Goals of RCM work

Note: These goals describe RCM work in general. They were set and applied by the Turing’s Research Community Management team between 2022 and 2026, under the leadership of Malvika Sharan and Emma Karoune. Adapt them to the needs of your own community or project.

RCMs work towards six goals, which frame their activities across programmes, projects, and external collaborations:

1. Embed open, inclusive, and reproducible research practices.

2. Ensure a shared understanding of goals, roadmap, and processes.

3. Facilitate stakeholder engagement and collaboration.

4. Provide technical support and domain expertise.

5. Co-create, maintain, and communicate project resources.

6. Amplify and champion community learnings and achievements.

Aims at the Institute level

The Turing’s programme page describes the wider aim of RCM work as ensuring that the research projects, processes, and outcomes created at the Institute are maintained, sustained, and easy for others to build on. RCMs support the flow of knowledge, resources, and evidence between teams, and connect research with national and international data science communities. They also exchange expertise with each other, providing peer mentoring, networked support, and space to learn.
