Outcomes data (risk-adjusted, in-hospital, post-surgery survival rates) for cardiac surgeons operating in the UK.

The original data was obtained from the website of NHS Choices and is given as three downloaded web pages.

This dataset is an example of a “real-world” dataset. The tasks are almost entirely about parsing the data into a usable form. There are some questions of interpretation; however, they cannot be addressed with this dataset alone.

Example data parsing and analysis is provided along with a cleaned dataset.

Challenge

To produce an estimate of, and uncertainty intervals for, the risk-adjusted in-hospital survival rate for each surgeon.
