FRIDGE operates a two-tier governance structure adapted from the UCL Research Data information governance framework.
A summary of this structure is shown in Figure 1.

FRIDGE Federation Governance¶
FRIDGE Federation Governance provides strategic oversight. Data Owners feed their requirements directly into this tier. It includes three groups:
The Resource Allocator, determines project suitability and approving workspace resource allocation.
A PPI (Public and Patient Involvement) function ensures research activities reflect public interests.
The Operational Management Group representatives provide the formal link between strategic governance and operational delivery, receiving risk and performance reporting from, and issuing requirements to, the OMG.
Operational Management Group¶
The Operational Management Group is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the FRIDGE platform. It comprises four groups:
The Information Governance Team, responsible for maintaining compliance and governance processes.
The Hosting Administrator, accountable for the safe operation of the underlying infrastructure.
The Principal Investigators and Safe Researchers, who carry out approved research within the environment ensure the FRIDGE is fit for purpose.
The TRE Administrator, responsible for the technical operation and maintenance of the Trusted Research Environment.
