Examples from the Turing#

Paper section 3 and Supplementary 2.

Section 3: RCM roles in practice#

Section 3.1 describes projects at The Alan Turing Institute that had institutionally supported RCM roles, starting with The Turing Way in 2019. Supplementary 2 gives the full table of project examples.

Section 3.2: A team-based approach#

The Turing’s RCM team set six shared goals:

  1. Embed open, inclusive, and reproducible research practices.

  2. Ensure a shared understanding of goals, roadmap, and processes.

  3. Facilitate stakeholder engagement and collaboration.

  4. Provide technical support and domain expertise.

  5. Co-create, maintain, and communicate project resources.

  6. Amplify and champion community learnings and achievements.

Practical uses#

  • Adapt the six goals when drafting goals for a community-management team. The team’s own goals page records how it applied them.

  • Use section 3.2.1 as an example of how the team was led, supported, and housed within the Tools, Practices and Systems programme.
